Our Milky Way galaxy has many hidden gems, and the Rosette Nebula is one of them. This nebula is part of a massive cloud of interstellar gas and dust and is associated with the cluster called NGC 2244, a beautiful collection of newly born stars. Learn more about this heavenly body.
This image of the Rosette Nebula was captured using our astrophotography equipment, which includes a Skywatcher Evostar 72 ED refracting telescope and the popular Celestron Advanced VX tracking platform.
We used the ZWO ASI294MC PRO one-shot color camera to capture this image, and the entire system is controlled via the ZWO ASIAIR, which is based on a Raspberry Pi platform.
Almost 140 images were captured, stacked, and stretched using SIRIL astro-processing software, with finishing touches applied in Photoshop.
The processing technique used here is the “Hubble Palette” version. Hydrogen Alpha and Oxygen III wavelengths were extracted and combined using SIRIL astro-processing software. This technique imparts an almost surreal feel to the image, with blue and yellow ochre hues brought out by the processing.
